Cathy Groulx O.S.A.
I was born in London Ontario Canada. I work in traditional oils on canvas from photographic references.
My work is exhibited regularly in Galleries, juried shows and various other venues, primarily in Ontario Canada. I have had work in Galleries in France, The USA and Denmark. I curated an Exhibition to represent
Canada with the work of seven artists, including myself, that went to The Netherlands in 2009.
I have had 40 solo exhibitions and participated in over 400 group shows since 1989, resulting in numerous awards including Best in Shows, public choice and juried awards.
The County of Oxford commissioned a painting for a gift to Taiwan.
Numerous Ontario Arts Council Exhibition Grants have been received.
Paintings have gone to the United States, England, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Australia, Japan and Viet Nam.
Murals for the Town of Ingersoll and assisting with theatre sets and wall murals has been an interesting change from working on canvas. I teach, lecture and judge photography and jury art competitions.
My work is in numerous corporate, private and permanent collections, including The Government of Ontario, The Woodstock Art Gallery, The Woodstock Hospital and The Mason Lodge in Woodstock.
I was elected into the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA) in 2009, and am currently a director. I am a member of Oxford Creative Connections and The Central Ontario Art Assoc. as well as The Woodstock Art Gallery.
My current focus is painting the natural landscape, with close ups of rocks and water a favorite theme. I do many commissioned pieces of various subjects as well.
